My husband started stealing my blog thunder by posting pictures to Facebook all the time, but I was also pretty busy trying to get things finished up over at the UF. But I always take more photos than he does, so I've got more to post.
As usual, there was contractor miscommunication/overlooked emails and the bathroom is not yet under construction. But we do have a bid that we've accepted, and we are waiting to hear back about when he can start.
We started to put up crown molding in the sun room. Apparently, there is some kind of magical trigonometry involved that I didn't learn at the math and science school. After some intense research, I purchased a refurbished miter saw from Amazon. The new version of this is $300, and I got this one for $85. If it lasts only to get this crown molding up and the quarter round installed, it will be well worth it. If it lasts longer, then I've got another cool saw to play with. Crown molding for everyone! Of course it is Ryobi, so it fits right into the tool family. (I promise they don't pay me to advertise their products, I just really like them.)

Once I got my engineer husband involved, he figured out the magical trigonometry and got the crown molding up. For the record, you have to find the spring angle for your particular crown mold and use a table to find your miter and bevel settings. Then you also have to know which way to clamp your molding to cut it right.
Our oldest daughter, who will be sleeping in this room when she's home to visit, took an interest in helping out over the weekend. Not only did she install flooring, but she and I assembled the ceiling fans for the sun room. The first one took 100 hours, and we ended up with all the wrong screws to finish the last step. The second one, of course, took just under 2 hours and we used all the right screws in the right places. Assembly of the second fan was interrupted by a second round NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament game. But don't worry - the Lady Bulldogs are moving on to the Sweet 16! And the ceiling fans are both installed. And they work!
Not to be outdone by her older sister, my middle child decided she wanted to help out too. She assembled a rocking chair for the porch. (That's a "Go Vips" sign she's throwing.)
I find that I have an intense need for things to be clean at the UF. It seems kind of useless to try to keep stuff clean, since it's a construction zone, but I try. I spent yesterday cleaning the new floors and putting the rugs down. Maybe it will help keep things more tidy. Probably wishful thinking.
Stay tuned on the decision whether to paint the shiplap or not.
I didn't understand anything until I got to the Go Dogs part. And to that part I say, "Go Dogs!" And great job to Cameroon and Lo. And I would paint the shiplap. The end.
