More bathroom
I have come to slowly realize that there is never really an "after" photo to be had. Whenever we get to the top of what feels like a gigantic mountain, we discover that there's another little part left to climb. So I have disabused myself of the dream of an actual end to any project.
That said, here is the current progress report on the bathroom:
Walls have been patched and painted. The vanity has been installed. Countertop guys have been scheduled to come measure for countertops next week. Rock and roll.
Then we started going over the to do list that is left for the handyman who's going to rebuild the master bath for us. Part of his list includes "move cans to wall for lighting." Well ha ha, now that we're big bad DIYers, let's just see if we can do that ourselves!
This involved my husband crawling up through a very small access panel in the ceiling of the linen closet and doing some re-wiring in the attic. While he was up there, he also took out the old vent and we replaced it with a newer, prettier one. He only almost came through the ceiling once.
We also installed a shower bar in the bathtub and finished up getting the new shower fixtures installed. Disclaimer: the funky angles of these pictures aren't an artistic interpretation, I'm just trying to get all the things I want you to see into the frame - this room is small.
And just for fun, here's a pic of my husband in the attic with his headlamp on. And the pic of the instructions is what you do when your old eyes can't read anything. You take a pic with your phone and stretch it out to make it big enough to read.
Please don't take my lack of recent comments as disinterest. I'm still loving the blog. You've just gone past my level of do-it-yourself, so I read in amazement and don't even know what to say. But awesome work! It's looking fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to expand upon my husband's level of interest: you are dangerously close to inspiring him to TRY DIY projects. I am in awe and horror of this development.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I think.
PS: I WILL be using your idea to take and expand too small type. Genius.
ReplyDeleteI don't need comments, but I do like to read them! I'm really surprised at the amount of things we intended to let a handyman do that we have taken on ourselves instead. At least we know that if we screw it up, we can definitely get somebody to fix it.
