DirecTV channel 229

Y'all are going to learn that I watch HGTV. A Lot. I think the show that got me hooked on it was one of Sarah Richardson's shows. She's had several series and I saw them all in reruns. You know how they have a couple of seasons of a show, and they play it from start to finish all in one day? Yeah, I sit and watch that. Sarah is from Canadia (that's how we say it to mess with our friend Canadian Jason). I love her shows and her style. She also has this fabulous design assistant named Tommy Smythe. If you have not had the pleasure of being introduced to Tommy Smythe, go Google Sarah's shows and binge watch them right now. I'll wait.

Did you see the one where Sarah built a bunk house at her island getaway property? Yeah, more about that later. But didn't you love Tommy? I like to refer to him as the Tim Gunn of interior design. He makes up new words like "nooche" (a cross between a niche and a nook), and you just love him for it - and you want a nooche in your bathroom shower right now. I want to be friends with him. By the way if you also fall in love with all of the chic jacket/blazers that Sarah wears on the show, then Google Tommy's sister (Christie, I think) who is a totally fabulous fashion designer. Do not Google the price of Smythe jackets though. It will hurt your pocketbook.

Right now, everybody's crazy about the show Fixer Upper on HGTV. I have to admit, I was too at first. Joanna's designs are really good - and did you know she didn't even have a background in interior design when they started their business? (yes, I'm aware that I know more about these shows than normal people should know.) I watched it for a while, but it got to where I couldn't stand to watch Chip. When he ate a cockroach in that one show, that was it for me. Ugh. But I follow her on Pinterest, and one day maybe I'll make it up to visit the silos. I still can't really figure out what's the deal with Waco. My Google maps lady likes to call it "Wack-o," and I've always believed it was a little bit fitting for that town.

Anyway, all this binge watching of HGTV has empowered me. It's probably a scary thought to my husband. If I start something and get in over my head, he always has to come help me fix it or even finish it himself. I'm pretty hard headed though, I usually get pretty far before he gets roped into it.

This is my closet in my current house right now:

I've been collecting stuff for the new house so long that I can't remember what's in that pile. I know that there are a bunch of new light fixtures, new cabinet pulls for the kitchen and bathrooms, some decor stuff, and I just can't remember the rest. I've got plans, y'all. I just can't remember what they are. I don't think that's going to get better until we can move this stuff over there and see what it is and where it goes.

OMG I just Googled the bunkhouse, and I totally forgot that Sarah called it a "bunkie" on Sarah's Summer House. How Canadian of her. This is where I got the idea of building a "bunkie" that has now been de-bunked by the location of the septic system. Google has also revealed that there's an entire Sarah series that I haven't seen yet - Sarah's Rental Cottage. How did I miss this? Look, a chicken.

Anyway, I've got a huge list of things To Do (adding "watch Sarah's Rental Cottage"). I'm going to write about it here, so I will have it as part of the historical documents. Then as we finally get the key to the house and start some of these projects, I hope to show you the progress. And the end product.
