The Urban Farmhouse

2 posts in one day! Surely this is a sign that I will burn out and cause my blog to suffer from eternal neglect. We'll see. I make no promises. :)

Here is the urban farmhouse that we currently have under contract:

It is 3 BR 2.5 BA, 2200 sq. ft. and built in 1993. The first thing my oldest (who is moving to college in 48 hrs) said was - where am I gonna sleep? HAHA. That's the point! It's located at a pretty major intersection in the Austin/Cedar Park corridor, right where they met up and Lakeline Mall was born. However, I never knew it was there. It is such a nondescript little neighborhood. There are about 20 houses back there, and they all are on HUGE lots. Ours is 1.6 acres. In Austin city limits! And nobody knows it's there! Who knew?

It's located on the very outer edges of our high school attendance zone. Our current plan is to use the coming school year to do renovations (because it needs a LOT of work) while staying in our current home, since the youngest is walking distance from his middle school (and the "new" house is zoned for another middle school). At the end of the school year, the current house will go on the market and we will begin moving into the Urban Farmhouse.

That's why I made this blog. We (and by we I mean me) are going to tackle a lot of the renovations ourselves. The major one - ripping out and repairing a leaky shower - we are leaving for the pros. But the painting, light fixtures, flooring, etc. will be done by us. It's likely to be comical. So I am sharing.
