Status update

I got the doors back on the cabinets in the laundry room and painted all the trim. I started to paint the exterior door, but then I realized that we are going to replace it. It'll be a pre-hung door, so all the casing will come out and be replaced.

Got the upstairs bath finished. Countertops in, faucets installed, mirrors installed, doors put back on the hinges, quarter round installed and painted. So far, there has been no obvious sign of a leak inside the wall.

I started painting the kitchen. I'm leaving the ceiling and crown molding for last, when we know if the ceiling can be patched or not.

Strictly for entertainment purposes, my husband connecting up the new sinks in the bathroom. That's 3 boxes of tile, a seat cushion, a pillow, and a bedsheet all stacked up underneath him.

  1. Speaking of plumbing leaks in the wall....the very day that you posted this, we had a doozy of one here. After being home all day, I left to pick Benjamin up from school. On 90% of days, this is a 10 minute round trip. But, that day, I ran two errands and was gone from the house for 45 minutes. When I opened the door, water was pooled in front of me. A line had broken in the wall between bathrooms and had flooded 2/3 of the house in 1/2 inch or more of water. Total cluster. We were fortunate in that we had spent many days a few months ago doing a full Marie Kondo edit of the entire house and got rid of mountains of stuff. So, there was actually very little stuff on the floor anywhere to be destroyed. And the floor is just the concrete foundation, painted. But lots of soaked rugs, etc. Service Master came quickly and got the water vacuumed up with their industrial equipment and left 12 large fans and 2 large dehumidifiers here for 36 hours. It could have been much worse. We could have had carpet or wood floors and they would have been a mess. But the whole thing has reinforced for me that I just don't want to own a house and be responsible for all of this crap! It's a non-stop money pit. But your work is looking great!
