RIP bathroom vanity
The upstairs bathroom, while a nice size, is not ideal. Again, I have no good before pictures because we really hated it. The shower head is missing, and there's a gigantic vanity in there with 1 sink. Part of the vanity is a tall cabinet that seemed like a giant elephant in the room, so we decided to tear the whole thing out. We're going to replace it with a 6 ft long vanity with 2 sinks. To be delivered sometime tomorrow. But don't worry - we've still got to rip out carpet, lay tile, and get some plumbing done before it goes in.
My husband managed to successfully disconnect the plumbing from the sink. He then destroyed the cultured marble countertop and removed the sink. We thought the vanity unit would just unscrew and slide out. We thought wrong. It would not budge even an inch. Do not believe everything you see on HGTV.
I don't know how they got that thing in there, because the plumbing fittings were so tightly fitted. We ended up drilling a bunch of holes in it and stomping on it (vague movie reference there - The Martian). We did actually drill holes, but we used a crowbar to break the back of the cabinet and make a bigger hole so we could move the vanity out. We are professionals, y'all. When you don't have the right tool, you just make do.
This was after we removed the giant tower from the room.
Peek-a-boo! More ugly wallpaper hiding under wall texture and the bathroom mirror.
We did it! My husband even got the fittings to close off the water, and we did not flood the house! I just really hope that the new vanity fits in that space. Cross your fingers, everyone!
